Apologies

So sorry for the lack of posting... I kinda went through a photography funk and somehow found my way back to my new found love of photography! I've also had alot of things going on...working full time with a new job and buying my first house. Pretty exciting stuff.

Not alot going on on the photography side of things, but I have managed to snap a few nature shots, & more of my beloved boy, Winsey and that's about it.

I did photograph a wedding last summer, so I will post that as well....

The Angel...of Music

I was driving around town the other day when I saw something that made me look twice. There was a statue of an angel with all these dead vines hanging around it. I didn't have my camera with me and I hurried home to grab it and go back to the said area.

I've been on a "Phantom of the Opera" kick lately (mainly because of the AWESOME 25th Anniversary performance that is on DVD and out now) and I'm a huge musical theatre junkie and POTO is one of my favorites. As I pulled in front of the statue, the song "Angel of Music" came on and it definitely made that moment just a little bit creepy and dark-like as is the show itself.

Stephanie

Stephanie... How do I describe her? LOL She is a white ball of hyper fur, with a bright pink tongue that seems to stretch a mile long when she tries to "kiss you", who have two people who spoil her rotten! Yes, I am talking about a dog; my "niece". She is cute as a button!

Monarch Madness

During the late summer-mid fall, we had a HUGE mass of Monarch Butterflies hit our downtown area and migrated as far south about an hour from where I live. I was fortunate enough to get some great shots that I absolutely love! Here are two of my favorites!

Winter...

Snowfall hit my area early this year... although we did recieve a White Christmas, the major snowfall was in early to mid January.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here's hoping you all have had/are having a lovely day! My wish for you is that you are blissfully happy and totally in love with "the one" who puts a sparkle in your eye and a bounce in your step.

I, on the other hand; have to join in and say Happy Single Awareness Day to those of you who are still single. LOL I have been single for quite a while, but am learning to not rush it and not to fret.

....Love comes when you least expect it.

Helpful Information

I was sitting in the doctor's office the other day flipping through a magazine and read an interesting article about women starting entreprenuership and it gave some great websites...

And for those of you who are female photographers...

Watch out for that train!!

Here is a bit of good info if you ever imagined and dreamed photographing on abandoned train tracks. Got this on Facebook from fellow photographer; Tonya Cozart of Tonya Cozart Photography.

"yup, I see photogs do it all the time, you are not even supposed to be "on the property" which is a significant amount of space. Does not matter if a train has been on the tracks yesterday or 50 years ago. I was at texas school of photography one year and the cops came in and arrested a photographer for his images. He submitted them for competition or something, and he was turned in and they came right in and got him. They can also issue tickets like [another poster] said, and yes, everyone gets in trouble, not just the photog. There is no way around it, there is no excuse. It is because the railroad is property owned by the rail road commission, it IS NOT public property in any way. No one but rail road personnel are supposed to be on the property. Too many injuries and deaths occur needlessly on RR, and they can be very dangerous. A train can be coming, the tracks can be unstable, the ground could give way underneath them, you could fall and cut yourself or worse on the metal, you could get an arm or leg caught in the railing, I could go on and on,...I just see so many photogs using tracks...this is why you need to be educated about your job, it is not just about the camera...."

Great points, Tonya! Check out her blog...she is an awesome photographer!

What To Do When You Have Unhappy Customers

I recently had an unfortunate situation with a client who was not happy with their finished prints. Now... this was a first for me, but it happens to everyone, right? Right! So... don't fret if it's happened to you. I emailed a photographer friend and her response was very helpful and I thought I would pass it along to all your budding and amateur photog's...
Hi Natalie...What a bummer! This has definitely happened to me. It's important to find out why they're not happy...is it the retouching? Color? Something else?

Depending on the answer, you'll have some options. Yes, you'll need the photos back if they want replacements. If they don't want the pictures at all, AND you want to keep them as clients and have a happy ending to a road bump, then offer a free shortened session with a very clear direction that's going to fix the problem.

The important thing to keep in mind is that unhappy clients tend to be a whole lot more verbal than happy ones. They're quick to write negative reviews whereas happy clients are very slow to write positive reviews.

Hope that helps...thx for reaching out and I wish you a quick, painless resolution!

Halloween

A few weeks ago, I did some Halloween pictures at my workplace for some locals. Not many showed, but it was still fun. There were alot of other activities going on, but the people that I did photos for their kids were extremely happy, so I wasn't too disappointed.

I had a baby lion, her sister, a baby turtle. The little lion; 8 months, her sister; 2 years, The turtle; 6 months.

And a little later, I had two superheros come see me...

Sorry...

So sorry I've neglected my blog. I'm a bad blogger. LOL With my photography being on a slow re-start, I found a full time job and it's kind of taken over. I've been given a new duty at my full time job dealing with sales and marketing, and I think it's lit the fire for me to start marketing my photography.

I've taken a few pictures, since January (while I was still unemployed).

Upcoming events: The 2011 CAF AirShow is coming up, so of course, I'll be there snapping away.

Anywho... here are some recent pictures

My parents 20th Anniversary 1

Anniversary 2

Anniversary 3

You'll notice the design around my pictures are different. I've been playing around with different things and this "frame" will probably become my new thing. Hope you like it.

Next post will be the new wedding pictures....
